The 19th National Science Day celebrated as the National Institute of Mental Health and Neuroscience (NIMHANS) organizes a science exhibition.
NIMHANS marked the special day in order to honor deceased Dr. C.V Raman, winner of the Nobel Prize for Physics in 1930, for inventing the Raman Effect, the study of light scattering. The theme of the exhibition was ‘Brain, Mind, and Behavior’. The exhibition consisted of a total of 60 stalls explaining different parts of the body. It mostly focuses on how the brain and mind works. Some stalls were also set up for those who are addicted to cigarettes and alcohol.
The exhibition consisted of a section where various hand-made products were up for sale. The products are made by the patients who became mentally stable over time after getting treated at NIMHANS.
The Softcopy team spoke to the coordinator, Professor Laxmi, who said, “Like every year, we are celebrating this event. There are a number of stalls that demonstrate how our brain works. There are other stalls which are looking forward to giving tips to kids who have been victims of bullying.”
The exhibition portrayed different forms of art, such as the use of plastic bottles. The exhibition organized different activities and games for children to keep the event entertaining.
A student from a private school who visited the event said, “I have never been to a science exhibition before. This is my first time so I am excited. So far, I have visited only the first few stalls. I’m looking forward to taking part in the games and activities that are present.”
