BBMP to monitor vulnerable water logging zones

Reports of water-logging came out but complaints for the same were not filed.

Heavy rains drenched areas like KR market, Old Tharagupet and Mamulpet on Monday.

BBMP will instruct local vendors in  KR market to shut their shops early in the evening due to predicted rains in the   days ahead. They are carrying out work for cleaning the market affected due to rain.

A vendor at KR market said that heavy rains flooded the area in the evening.”It forced me to shut my shop,” he added. Since,  the water was cleared by morning, ,he said that he did not file any complaint to Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP).

Millers Road in Vasantnagar and Shivajinagar were also waterlogged. However, N Rama Rao, Chief Engineer, BBMP,   said that no water logging cases were reported yesterday.

Certain points in the city that are prone to waterlogging are being closely monitored by BBMP.  They have been clearing the water from the areas that were waterlogged since Sunday.  . Vijaynagara   was flooded due to Vrishwabhavati channel during heavy rains. But Bangalore Water Supply and Sewage Board (BWSSB) cleared the water in two to three hours,said Rao.

South zone

Kamakhya Layout in Banashankari reported heavy water logging on Sunday.  . The area is prone to flash floods every season.   “There is no way to be alert about flash floods but we have been handling it and will continue to do so in future,” Rao said.
