Bangalore, March 7, 2019.

“We still haven’t finalized the list. Today, we have just shortlisted the candidates. I expect probably by  March 14, the party high command will announce the list”, said HK Patil, the public committee in charge of Congress.

A total of 39 Congress leaders, including the senior leaders  Siddaramiah, Deputy Chief Minister, Parameswara, and D K Shivakumar, discussed the seats for upcoming LS elections.

A documentary on Karnataka State Lok Sabha seat research was presented to Dinesh and Eshwara Khundre, working president KPCC.

D.K Shivakumar joined the meeting late. B K Hariprasad sitting MP Rajyasabha said, “The Cong-JD (S) alliance will win more than 20 seats, whereas BJP will remain with a single digit.”

“So far, 10 seats for Congress and two for JD (S) are confirmed. The remaining 16 seats should be finalized, the discussion is still going on and will be announced soon.”

Hariprasad also accused the Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) of poaching MLAs. He commented, “It is a tactic played by the BJP to poach our MLAs. They don’t have confidence in them, so they poach our MLAs. Our coalition government will remain in power. Our strategy is to defeat Narendra Modi.

Speaking to The Softcopy newspaper, Dinesh Gundu Rao said, “On March 11, there will be a meeting to discuss seat-sharing by the Congress screening committee.”

The Congress-JD (S) is yet to discuss the seat-sharing process of some constituencies. Gundu Rao mentioned, “We have not discussed 12 sitting constituencies and the candidates will remain the same for those constituencies. We discussed the remaining 16.”

At today’s meeting, there was no discussion on seat sharing; only high command will take that decision, according to the Working President, Eshwar Khundre.
