Swacchameva Jayate Campaign Launched in Bengaluru

Karnataka Chief Minister, HD Kumaraswamy, inaugurated the Swacchameva Jayate a campaign launched to celebrate World Toilet Day celebrated in India.

“The focus of this campaign will be more on rural Karnataka, as it is were the major concern is ” said Swathi Attavar, a coordinator for the event being held at Gandhi statue, near VidhanSoudha.

“Swacchameva Jayate is launched today to celebrate Karnataka’s achievement of being the first state to try to become 100 percent Open Defecation Free (ODF),” explained Attavar. ” The primary objectives of the event are to change the behaviour of people across the rural parts of Karnataka and to focus more on solid and liquid waste management.”

“The objective of the campaign is to improve appropriate technology so as to provide toilet facilities to every household of the state and to ensure that no that there are no faeces outside,” said an United Nations official.

World toilet day is celebrated widely on the 19th of November and is a part of a Sustainable Development Goal (SDG.)
