Chief Ministers’ comment against farmers fuel protest at SBM Circle.
Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) members took to the streets on Wednesday in protest of the Chief Minister’s comments on farmers. Over 2000 BJP members in Bangalore participated in the protest on Wednesday. The protest was held at Mysore Bank circle on K.G Road.
Chief Minister H. D Kumaraswamy in a recent agitation, organized by the sugarcane farmers of Karnataka, responded by calling farmers ‘goondas’ and ‘mavalis’. He also made objectionable comments at the women present by asking them ‘where were you sleeping for the past four years’.
Ashok Kumar, BJP member said, “The Chief Minister should be ashamed of what he did. He has no right to call the farmers ‘goondas’ and point fingers at the women of our community.”
S Yedyurappa, State President of BJP, was also present at the protest. He spoke up about the issue by commenting, “Kumaraswamy should step down as Chief Minister.”
The BJP leaders want the chief minister to apologize for his remarks and bring justice for the sugarcane farmers of Karnataka by increasing the current minimum support price (MSP).
