“Kangana too middle class to be wielded by the Congress”: BJP state spokesperson

City Elections Politics

Congress’ inclination towards dynasty politics is the main cause behind the recent insult meted out to Kangana Ranaut, BJP Karnataka spokesperson Malavika Avinash said in a press conference today.

It seems too far-fetched that Supriya Shrinate, the head of Indian National Congress’ (INC) IT cell was not aware who all had access to her social media accounts, BJP Karnataka spokesperson and actress Malavika Avinash said on the recent Supriya Shrinate- Kangana Ranaut controversy.

Avinash said it was contemptuous of Shrinate, a woman politician to malign another woman politician. Calling Kangana Ranaut “too middle class” for the Congress to wield as a candidate, Avinash said the Congress does not want people with humble backgrounds in their party. The Congress party has forever engaged in dynasty politics and nepotism, and they therefore cannot appreciate people who enter politics without the backing up from “entitled” political family backgrounds, Avinash commented.

She was surprised neither Priyanka Vadra nor Sonia Gandhi chose to distance themselves from Shrinate and condemn the post, Avinash added. “The congress party, to run down a person just because she’s an actress and to put up those kinds of pictures is condemnable,” Avinash said.

She also said that right from when the BJP came to power in 2014, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has often been the subject of Congress’ ridicules. This is because Modi comes from a modest background, and the Congress does not like people who do not belong from “famous” families, she said.

Shrinate was served a notice by the Election commission (EC) for posting a picture of actor and BJP Lok Sabha candidate Kangana Ranaut on X along with a remark that the EC found “undignified and in bad taste”, according to yesterday’s news reports. Shrinate clarified that one of many people having accesses to her accounts on social media platforms posted the objectionable picture and the comment.

Shrinate was appointed as the chairperson of INC’s social media and digital platforms in 2022.

Avinash further said actors all over the country are subject to criticism and ridicule of the public, but to try and defame Kangana’s image before elections was evil.

Malavika Avinash strongly condemned what she called the defamation of actress Kangana Ranaut at the press conference

BJP has done more for women than Congress could ever do: BJP MLC Bharathi Shetty

While the BJP has introduced several schemes for empowering women, the Congress has had only guarantees for them, BJP Member of (Karnataka) Legistative Council (MLC), Bharati Shetty said at the Press Conference. She talked of how several schemes introduced by the PM have benefitted a large number of women in the country.

Crimes against women have gone up significantly in Katrnataka, despite the Comgress allocating a budget of Rs.  500 crores for “safe city” project, Shetty said while referring to the data relased by the National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB).

She also said that rather than building skills, the Congress has made people incapable by giving them free money and distributing freebies. She invoked the proverb “give a man a fish, and you feed him for a day; teach a man to fish and you feed him for a lifetime” while making this point.

“NDA 406, BJP 370”

“We are confident that the Lok Sabha elections will reveal people are in BJP’s favour”, Ashwath Narayan, Chief spokesperson, BJP Karnataka said. “We believe that the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) will win 406 seats, out of which the BJP will win 370,” he said, “NDA 406, BJP 370 is our campaign maxim.”

The BJP had worked for the empowerment of women and the upgrading of students, and when the time comes, they will repay the favour by voting for the party, he added.
