The party emphasized the need to abolish president’s rule post-elections to facilitate a smoother transition to a new government.
Karnataka Swabhimani Raitara Karmikara party (KSRKP ) put forward a comprehensive set of demands today aimed at reforming the electoral system .
S. Nagaraja, the party’s spokesperson, along with Bharathraj J., lawyer and Vice President of KSRKP, and moderator Vasanth, put forward the demand for restructuring the code of conduct, and to establish a networked administration for the president’s and governor’s offices across the country.
The demand had the goal of saving public tax money by curbing the misuse of power, extravagant travel and accommodation expenses, and other allowances during election periods for high-ranking officials such as the Prime Minister, Union Ministers, and Chief Ministers.
The party also emphasized the need to abolish president’s rule post-elections to facilitate a smoother transition to a new government. Additionally, they advocated for an end to retirement benefits like pensions and medical facilities for former politicians to prevent financial burden on the economically disadvantaged.
Transparency in election expenditures was another issue raised by the party, citing concerns about candidates exceeding stipulated expense limits and falsifying expenditure reports post-elections.
Bharathraj also proposed restrictions on political meetings and rallies to avoid unnecessary conflicts based on caste and financial influences, aiming to maintain public harmony during election campaigns. Moreover, they suggested extending the reservation for marginalized communities in Lok Sabha and Vidhan Sabha constituencies for two terms (ten years) to provide long-term representation.
Finally, the party called for finance reform, urging the Election Commission to collect fixed fees from candidates and ensure that parties publicize their programs through visual media, and engage in dialogue programs for voter awareness and participation.
KSRKP will be contesting for the 18th Lok Sabha election in Karnataka with no alliance from all 28 Lok Sabha constituencies.
