Tamil Nadu BJP leader K. Annamalai says that the ruling DMK government is showing the state in a bad light
The security and welfare of migrant workers can be guaranteed more in Karnataka than Tamil Nadu, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader K. Annamalai, said at a press conference held in Bengaluru..
Annamalai said that, “Kannadigas are welcoming and I am sure that no workers will be harmed here in terms of their identity. If we talk about social welfare, BJP is ready to provide them with subsidies and funds if they face any issue in the state.” He added that the party is going to ensure that no matter who comes from where, they get their space and comfort to work in any part of Karnataka.
Annamalai was recently booked by Tamil Nadu police for sharing a fake video of migrant workers of Bihar being tortured in Tamil Nadu. He said, “I still stand by it,and there was no probe into the video controversy. I am a part of the opposition party in Tamil Nadu, that’s why I am being targeted for addressing the concern of migrants in Tamil Nadu.”
Annamalai added that Tamilians have no problems with people migrating to their state and working alongside them.“ However, there are some disturbing elements in the leading Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam government. For no reason they are interested in creating a bad image of my state. So, I can say that the workers are safe in Karnataka as compared to Tamil Nadu. I really hope for a better situation.”
He was speaking at a press conference conducted by BJP today at ‘Maha Prachar Sabha’ to talk about their election campaign. Also, the party president Nalin Kumar Kateel announced that they will be visiting every constituency possible ., K. Annamalai was also present for the BJP campaign.
V.S. Ugrappa, a spokesperson for the Indian National Congress(INC) said that this is nothing but a vague political stunt to woo people and it barely makes sense to invite people from other states to do the campaigning. “He should focus on his own state rather than putting his feet into Karnataka politics, and BJP should have invited some other prominent figure as there is no sign of BJP in Tamil Nadu.”
Veeranna S.G., a spokesperson forJanata Dal (Secular) said that, “These petty things do not affect our party. Let them call whosoever they want to, because we can do our publicity without calling celebrities or people from other states.”
Apart from this, issues of raids, Cauvery river dispute, hijab controversy and reservation were also discussed. Annamalai said, “These raids are to target those who are corrupt, irrespective of them being from BJP or not.” He added that they are not targeting someone or a community, and if the party came to power, it pledged to maintain the dignity of private, public and educational space. “If I were to wear a saffron scarf in class, it would be prohibited as well. So, there is no such thing that we want to humiliate and belittle other communities, as everyone is equal.”
