Protest and Celebration at the Same Venue

In Townhall, Congress addressed OBC’s issues, but the DSS demands go unnoticed. The DSS protested in front of the Townhall while the Congress celebrated a former Karnataka CM’s birthday inside the Townhall.
The Dalit Sangharsh Samiti (DSS) protested against the injustice happened to an SC/ST person who got beaten up by a police inspector in Kolar. The Townhall surroundings were covered by ‘we want justice’ slogan by protestors. Whereas Congress was celebrating its former CM D Devaraj Urs’ birthday, organized by the Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee, and addressing the Congress OBC’s right-wing issues.
Dinesh Gundu Rao, KPCC chief, the OBC wing president, addressing the congressmen, said that, “On the next month budget session, the government is going to grant Rs 30 crore for OBC welfare.” Former CM Siddaramiah also attended the birthday celebration. The congressmen were not aware of the protest that was going outside. Mr. M Nagraj, KPCC spokesperson said that “We don’t know about this protest. They are using it as an advantage because all the important people that are present here today.”
The DCC secretary was also present during the protest. He said, “The function by the Congress is for the sake of the name, they don’t do anything for minorities.” This is a statewide protest for the justice whose case is being heard in the Supreme Court. The President of DSS said that they have sent a letter to CM HD Kumaraswamy for the expulsion of the police inspector.
