Athletes hope for improved infrastructure to produce better players.

Athletics and sports fans hope for improvement in infrastructure and sports culture from the candidates in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.

Shashank, a cricket coach said that he doesn’t care who wins or loses. “ What we need is improvement in sports infrastructure of  our city. .“If there are more training grounds and nets facilities we can produce better players,” he added.

Paulson, a football player from Christ  said that the Sree Kanteerava Football Stadium needs to be renovated. “The last time I went to the stadium, there were not enough seats,   even the existing seats were not maintained properly. I hope that things will change. Whoever wins, I hope they will improve the football infrastructure in Bangalore,” he said.

Nikhil Dominic, a football fan from Bangalore once went to the Karnataka State Football Association stadium to watch a match with his friends. “The stadium looked good because they have painted it. But, if we go to the back of the stadium we can see concrete parts falling apart, and only one stand has a shade. The other two don’t even have a shade or stands,” he observed. Nikhil said that he is hoping for a change in infrastructure after the elections. “I am a supporter of the Congress Party, but even though the Congress is ruling the state there is a lot to improve in the football sector,” he added.

Pradeep, a sports store owner said that Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) should win. “Tejasvi should win from his constituency. I feel he will take care of everything. We have a good cricket culture in Bangalore and with a lot of players with proper governance this culture will continue,” he said.
