The Prime Minister will conduct a road show in Bengaluru and Mysuru.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi is going to hold road shows in Bengaluru and Mysuru on April 29 and 30 respectively.
Union Minister, Shobha Karandlaje, said, “Narendra Modiji came to Karnataka and talked to many people last time. He will come to Bengaluru on Apr. 29 and hold road shows which will be around four to five kms long.”
These road shows are part of Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) campaign for Karnataka’s upcoming elections which are due to be held on May 10, 2023. The prime minister will be in Karnataka from April 28 to May 7 and hold up to 15 rallies and road shows.
The most recent road show by the party was held in Kochi on Apr. 24, 2023. The prime minister was due for a two-day visit to Kerala where he stepped out of his car in Kochi to walk on the streets greeting the public. He walked for about 20 minutes before he finally stepped back into his car.
Anand Prasad from Congress said that road shows are nothing new for Congress. “We have been doing this since the time of Indira Gandhi.” He said that BJP might think that these road shows will make a difference but they will not. “Where was he when Karnataka needed him? These road shows will not change anything,” he added.
“Modi held road shows in Kerala and Tamil Nadu before. They did not make any difference then and they will not have any impact now,” said Pratap, spokesperson of Janata Dal (Secular). He said that Karnataka elections are about the local issues. “National leaders showing up in Karnataka will not be of any interest to the people here,” he added.
