Experts say tunnelling will not affect civilians this time.
Underground tunnelling and excavations are necessary for the infrastructural development in the country.
Ravishankar M, secretary general, organizing committee of INSTRUCT (Institute for Research Development and Training Construction Trades and Management) , said, “Given the complexities involved in constructing tunnels and underground structures, there is a need for more advanced technical know-how on modern construction processes and new technologies. India’s tunnelling and underground construction activities are growing fast from the past few years”
INSTRUCT (Institute for Research Development and Training Construction Trades and Management) Programme Committee will focus on challenges and issues related to tunnelling and underground constructions for its international conference, NIRMAANA 2022. “Many routes in the Bengaluru Metro have been made through tunnelling system. It is a costly yet convenient method, and does not affect the civilians land,” said B.S. Prahlad, chief engineer of Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP).
Gururaj TS, chairman of INSTRUCT, said that India is in the cusp of infrastructure development which include roads and highways, railways, ports and waterways, hydro power plants, mass rapid transit systems, crude oil underground storage structures, sewage systems etc., as stated in a press release..
The conference will disseminate knowledge on tunnelling and underground construction with technical sessions, discussions on the latest tunnelling technologies, machineries, applications, and implementation protocols in India’s tunnelling projects
Gururaj said that tunnelling can also been done in busy places, not affecting the traffic in the city.
B.A Madhukar, chairman of the organizing committee, explained that “INSTRUCT has been continually addressing the issues and challenges in the Construction Industry through training and updating sessions for the construction fraternity.”
INSTRUCT , a registered body of engineers and architects headquartered at Bengaluru is organizing ‘NIRMAANA 2022′, a two day knowledge-based major international conference on ‘Tunnelling and Underground Construction’ on May 12 and 13, 2022 at Hotel Lalit Ashok in Bengaluru.
