Madiga Community demands political representation

Karnataka State Madiga Organisation Union in a press conference said that their community has been cheated by not giving tickets to contest in the elections. The Madiga community warned the leaders of congress party that if proper political representation is not given to them then the Congress party will have to face severe consequences in the Lok Sabha elections. Madiga community has demanded fair and equal political representation in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.

Keshav Murthy, president of Karnataka State Madiga Organisation said, “Bijapur, Kalaburagi, Chamarajanagar, Chitradurga, Kolar constituencies are shared by the Madiga Community and Chalavadi Community.” He said that among these five constituencies, Bijapur, Kalaburagi, Chamarajanagar constituencies are given to the Chalavadi community. “We want the Congress party to give remaining two constituencies to the Madiga Community,” he said.

The president of Madiga Organisation said that in the above mentioned constituencies the voters of the Madiga community will play a crucial role in winning the Lok Sabha elections. He said that in Kolar district, in Chintamani, Shidlaghatta, Srinivaspura taluks 50 percent of population are Madiga community supporters.

The members of the Karnataka Madiga Organisation said that Manjunatha, K.Y. Nanjegowda, N. Narayanaswamy are demanding to give tickets to the Chalavadi Community. “We want the political parties to divide the seats for elections equally,” said the members of  Madiga Community in the press conference.

Madiga Community claimed that the congress runs a ‘dynasty politics.’ The president said that the released candidates list for the Lok Sabha elections shows how Congress follows dynasty politics.

“If the seats are not divided equally among the Madiga and Chalavadi communities would mean that Congress party is against social justice,” said the president. He said that they are not castist, they want equal representation. He added that if equal representation is not given to them then the Congress party will face the consequences in the upcoming elections.
