H. D Kumaraswamy to contest from Mandya

JD(S) declared Prajwal Revanna as the candidate in Hassan constituency and Mallesh Babu in Kolar constituency.

Janata Dal (Secular) (JD(S)) declared H. D Kumaraswamy as their candidate from Mandya constituency for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.

The party declared Prajwal Revanna, Member of Parliament (MP),  and son of former Minister H.D. Revanna as the candidate in Hassan, in a meeting held at HDK, JP Nagar today. The candidate for Kolar constituency is Mallesh Babu.

Addressing the press, Kumaraswamy mentioned that the congress government is inefficient. He added that the state government is not utilizing central funds. He said that the government is not implementing schemes to provide water in North Karnataka region. Promising to focus more on farmers’ issues, Kumaraswamy said that the coalition between JD(S) and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) will make a change.

BJP and JDS alliance is confident about defeating Congress in all 28 constituencies, said both party members. Nikhil Kumaraswamy, son of H.D. Kumaraswamy said that JD(S) and BJP are aligned really well, and both parties are continuously having meetings. 

G. T. Devegowda, JD(S) leader and Member of Legislative Assembly (MLA), said that JD(S) has a strong hold in the constituencies of Channapatna, Ramanagara and Mandya. “In the last Lok Sabha election, we thought that we had enough support in Mandya constituency. However, we couldn’t get enough votes,” he said. Some JD(S) workers had earlier opposed H.D. Kumaraswamy contesting elections from Mandya this time.

JD(S) had shortlisted three names for Kolar constituency, earlier today. BJP sitting MP from Kolar constituency, M. Muniswamy was in the list, along with JD(S) member Nisarga Narayanaswamy.

Kolar BJP MP M. Muniswamy visited the JDS party meeting earlier today. He said that he will happily go with the decisions made by his party. He attended the JD(S) meeting to talk to Kumaraswamy and enquire about his health issues, he said. He added that by winning all 28 seats, the alliance will save Karnataka from Congress. “Janta ka virodhi, Desh ka virodhi, Congress ko hatana, Desh ko bachana,” he said. Addressing the press, Muniswamy further said that people in Karnataka should defeat Congress.
