The Aam Aadmi Party demanded expulsion of Member of Parliament (MP) Pratap Simha and resignation of Union Home Minister Amit Shah.
The AAP led a protest at Freedom Park voicing objections to the casual attitude of the central government over the issue of Parliament security breach. The major demand of the protest was the expulsion of Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP) MP Pratap Simha, as two of the intruders got visitors passes from his Mysore office.
Mohan Desai, Organising Secretary of AAP in Karnataka highlighted that the incident was carried out on the day of the terrorist attack 22 years ago and hinted that there might be other motives behind doing this. He said, “Parliamentarians who are questioned are being suspended and security personnel are being fired but the person who is responsible for the incident is being protected.”
Desai said that Pratap Simha betrayed the nation as well as his own party as he gave visitors passes to anti-national people. He added that a person like Pratap Simha, who comes live on Facebook and talks about frivolous things, has now become silent about the whole issue.
He added that Mohua Moitra of Trinamool Congress (TMC) was expelled from the Lok Sabha for only sharing her Lok Sabha portal login details and AAP MP Raghav Chadha was suspended from the Rajya Sabha for allegedly including the names of five opposition MPs in a motion he moved in the Rajya Sabha. He said that people are suspended for such petty things but no action has been taken over the breach of security of the parliament, which is supposed to be the safest place.
Slogans like “Pratap Simha Dhikkara Dhikkara”, “Narendra Modi Dhikkara Dhikkara” and “BJP government down down” were used by AAP members to criticise the central government for not taking action against its MP and compromising the safety of the country.
Desai said that the AAP will not rest until Pratap Simha is suspended.
