Users are unable to register themselves on the app and track charging stations for E- vehicles.

People driving E-vehicles face problems like difficulty in finding charging stations through the EV – Mitra app, which was introduced by Bangalore Electricity Supply Company Limited (BESCOM).

Also, the reviews of the app by android and iOS users are not good. Users of EV–Mitra app often don’t receive the One Time Password (OTP) while registering on the app.

Dinesh, a delivery boy, who rides an electric scooter, said that the app is useful while booking a slot to recharge his scooter. However, at times, it shows error while tracking the charging stations through the in-built map, he said.

Official from BESCOM said that the app is updated regularly and if any complaint is registered, they will try to solve it as soon as possible.

Rehman, manager of Smart Grid and Electric Vehicle department from BESCOM said, “We update the app regularly.” The manager added that initially when the app was introduced, there were some glitches in the app. However, they were corrected. “If we receive the customer complaints again, we will look into the problem and try to fix it as soon as possible,” he added.

BESCOM introduced the EV-Mitra app in 2022 to help users track the charging stations and to book as lot in the charging station to charge their vehicle.

Shri Prakash, professor at The Energy and Resources Institute (TERI) said that the app which will help the electric vehicle users has to be maintained properly and regularly. “Such problems need to be to be resolved by the respective officials and the department as soon as possible. As there is a large number of people driving electric vehicles, the users  are affected because of these issues in the app,” he said.
