Self-proclaimed cow activist to be brought back from Rajasthan tomorrow, the police said.
Puneeth Kerehalli and his associates are yet to be brought back from Rajasthan as the police do not yet have travelling tickets to reach Ramnagara.
Karthik Reddy, Superintendent of Police of Ramanagara said ,“He(Puneeth Kerehalli) still has not been brought back because we are looking for his tickets. Only by tomorrow morning he will be coming here.”
An article states that Puneeth Kerehalli is a self proclaimed cow protection activist, who has been arrested with four of his associates for attacking three men who were transporting buffaloes at Santhanur.
He disappeared along with the other men involved in the incident after the case came to limelight. The police tracked the SUV he was travelling in and with the help of local police they were able to catch him in Rajasthans’s Banaswada district on Wednesday.
Prathap Kanagal, Karanataka JanataDal (Secular) spokesperson said that “One cannot take the law into their hands. It is inhuman to do these illegal activities, the law has to punish them because if everyone starts doing this then what is the need for police and judiciary.”
He added that the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is trying to bring the Uttar Pradesh model in Karnataka that they want to disturb the communal harmony here.
M G Mahesh, Spokesperson for BJP said that this incident that happened in Sathanur has nothing to do with BJP anyways. “My party and the government have tried our level best to protect cows. We do not endorse any such type of any violence on cows and any other respected things. My party has taken the stand that law will take its own cause,” he added.
Nataraj Gowda, Chief Spokesperson for Karnataka Congress said that these unlawful organisations are being supported by BJP. “Who are these people? This Puneeth Kerehalli has links with all top BJP leaders. He visits their houses and their offices. He poses as if he is a top BJP leader.”
He added that the investigation should be proper and unbiased. The police made a mistake by allowing escaping from Karnataka to Rajasthan. “Now, the law will take action and the culprits should be punished.”
