Minister of higher education of Karnataka is accused for being involved in various scandals.
Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) spokesperson and Ex MLC, Ramesh Babu has urged the Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai to take legal action against Dr. C.N Ashwath Narayan, Minister of Higher Education of Karnataka.
In the press conference held at the KPCC office today, he requested CBI’s intervention against Narayan and also demanded his resignation or sacking following the alleged probe against him.
In the conference, he exclusively spoke about the Police Sub Inspector (PSI) exam and posting scam, the laptop and tablet scheme scam and the uprooting of funds from the government by the minister. He also put forth how the minister is helping his close friends and relatives to get government posts. He pointed out Bhagwan and Ramesh Reddy who have been appointed as teachers irrespective of being from a non-teaching background at an esteemed institution and alleged that they got this posts as they are close relatives of Narayan.
He also emphasized on the death of NS Ashok Kumar as there are others like him who end up paying bribes to these ministers in order to get the posts in the education department. Kumar committed suicide on November 8 2020 as he couldn’t secure the post of vice-chancellor at a university even after paying a bribe of Rs. 2 crore to one of the Deputy Chief Ministers of the state.
The congress spokesperson also demanded an investigation into the 1.10 lakh laptops and 1.6 lakh tablets that have been distributed by Narayan with the Karnataka State Electronics Development Corporation Limited (KEONICS). He said there has been a misuse of funds allocated for the same.
Along with Ramesh Babu, Ramchandra, Congress leader and ex-mayor of state and Senior Advocate N Diwakar, KPCC were present at the press conference.
