Uma Maheshwar (20) was stabbed four times by a group of people in Nandini Layout, while he was returning from his college around 7 PM on Wednesday.
The boy was taken to Kanva Diagnostic Hospital immediately, but due to his critical condition, he was shifted to Narayana Multispeciality Hospital (Vagus) in Malleshwaram last night.
“When he was shifted to the ICU last night, his condition was critical. His father took his body at noon,” said one of the ward boys at the hospital.
Dr. Pradhan at Narayana Multispeciality Hospital, said, “He was brought to the hospital last night around 10:30. He was hit at four places; the main vessels were damaged in the lower and upper part of the body. As soon as he was admitted, we took him to the operation theatre (OT) to make sure that ruptured vessels were recovered. We gave him six bottles of blood, but even after the surgery the bleeding couldn’t be controlled. He died of shock–low blood pressure was recorded, no heart sounds and no pulse. He collapsed around 5:30 in the morning. We tried our best to save him, but couldn’t, because major vessels were ruptured.”
“The body was transferred to MS Ramaiah Medical College Hospital around noon, for postmortem. The cause of death would only be known after the postmortem,” Dr. Pradhan told The Softcopy.
Uma Maheshwar was pursuing Bachelor’s in Business Administration from M.E.S College.
A complaint was filed by the deceased’s father, Gopal Raju last evening when he got to know about the incident.
“I am shocked after the incident. I have taken his body to M.S Ramaiah College Hospital for postmortem, but there are no doctors to conduct the procedure as of now,” Gopal Raju, deceased’s father told The Softcopy.
“We are trying to catch hold of the suspects by tracking their phones and call detail record (CDR). The incident happened at less than 500 meters from the Nandini layout police station. Those who killed him were his friends, but we don’t know how many people were there. One of the accused’s friends is at the police station for questioning,” said B.N Lohith, Police Inspector at Nandini layout police station.
