Festival of Ground Nuts at Malleshwaram

A four-day groundnut festival was held at the Kandu  Malleshwar Temple in Malleshwaram.

Kadalekai Parishe organized the annual groundnut fair today at Malleshwaram. The event was inaugurated by Mayor Gangambike Mallikarjun in presence of local MLA of Malleshwaram Dr. Ashwath Narayanan.

The fair attracts ground nut lovers from across the city and has been hosted at Kandu Malleshwaram temple for the past 2 years.

Mayor Gangambike Mallikarjun inaugurated the event with a puja. Manjunath Swamiji was also present at the fair.

“The fair provides enables us to sell our produce. Hundreds of groundnut growers from Chintamani, Magadi, and Kolar, and several other places in Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu participated in the fair and sold their crops” said Sulochanamma, a farmer from Tiruvannamalai district in Tamil Nadu.

“I am able to sell 40 to 50 kg of raw groundnut during the four-day fair. I came to the fair last year as well”, said Thyagarajan, a local vendor.
