North Bangalore traffic division said that they had no idea of the BDA’s plans to resume work on the Hebbal Flyover.
The traffic police say they were not informed about the plan of diversion and management of traffic as Banglore Development Authority (BDA) plans to add two more lanes to the Hebbal flyover.
Sachin P. Ghorpade, IPS and Deputy Commissioner of Police, Traffic North Division said, “We are not aware of any such thing. We have not received any notifications from the head office. Even in our recent meeting, nothing was mentioned about Hebbal Flyover.” He also added that we are working as we used to work before.
Shivarudra, an auto driver near Hebbal flyover said, “There is a lot of traffic and if a new construction activity starts then it will be difficult drive auto.”
M N Sreehari, a traffic expert said, “In Hebbal flyover plan, the government is just trying to modify the flyover but what they do not see is that now Bengaluru have two airports i.e. an estimate of eight crore travellers which means that traffic congestion will increase. Instead of modifying the flyover, the government should dismantle the flyover and should construct a new one.”
The deputy commissioner also said, “We have been doing are jobs and we will mange ahead also.”
