Cash and jewellery were recovered during the raid.
Karnataka Lokayukta along with the Bengaluru City Police raided the residence of Assistant Director of Town Planning(ADTP) Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP), Gangadharaiah’s house in Maruti Nagar, Yelahanka on Monday morning.
The raid was conducted following the complaint of disproportionate assets. Rs. 144 crores in cash were recovered from his house. Gold and diamond worth Rs one crore were found and foreign currencies were also recovered.
According to Lokayukta officials he owns 14 flats and houses in Yelahanka, JC Nagar, and Hebbal. Raids are still being conducted in his other properties, including a five acre land in Nelamangala worth Rs 1.5 crores and in Malleswaram worth Rs 3.65 crore. Lokayukta officials said that the search was conducted in seven places under sections 12, 13(1)(b), and 13(2) of the Prevention of Corruption Act. 1988.
Lokayukta sleuths conducted raids in different districts of Karnataka, it was reported that raids were conducted Kolar, Ballari, Davangere, Bidar and other districts.
