The promising 24-year-old midfielder will play for Bengaluru FC next season.
Jammu: Indian Super League (ISL) team Bengaluru FC is all set to sign Rohit Kumar, a midfielder from Kerala Blasters, for the 2020-21 season.
The 24-year-old midfielder, having played for Hyderabad FC before, joined Kerala Blasters on a long-term contract last season, but decided to part ways with the club only after one season.
Kumar made 11 appearances for Kerala Blasters in the ISL last season. In those 11 matches, with a passing accuracy of 75 percent, he completed 243 passes, made 17 tackles, eight interceptions, four clearances, and five blocks.
Rohit Kumar started his professional career in 2016 with the former I-League team, DSK Shivajians. After playing there for one season, Kumar joined ISL club FC Pune City and played for them for two years. After the club wound down after the 2019/20 season, Kumar joined Hyderabad FC and spent only one season there before joining the Kerala Blasters.
Bengaluru FC had a bad last season, having finished seventh on the points table, their worst finish ever in history. Since joining the ISL in 2017/18, this was the first time the blues did not make it to the playoffs.
Rohit Kumar will be Bengaluru FC’s first signing of this season and they would like to add more players to strengthen their squad after last season’s disappointing performance. The youngster will also be looking to get more match time this season for his new club.
