City bomb hoaxes: It’s the Raj Bhavan’s turn

Bangalore Top Story

Last night at 11:35 p.m., the Vidhan Soudha Police Station got a call from the control room about the bomb threat.

Bangalore: The bomb threat made to Raj Bhavan, the official residence of the Governor of Karnataka, turned out to be hoax after a late night search. The police said that nobody had to be evacuated during the operation.

The National Investigation Agency (NIA) got an anonymous call on Monday night that a bomb was placed in the Raj Bhavan, following which they alerted the Vidhan Soudha Police Station.

An official from the security force outside Raj Bhavan said, “The Bomb Disposal Squad (BDS) conducted an immediate search operation in the Raj Bhavan premises after the information. The threat was declared as hoax post thorough inspection.” Right now, the situation is under control, he added.

The search operation and investigation is going on and an FIR has been filed at the Vidhan Soudha Police Station, he said. “This incident has no connection with the previous hoax bomb calls made to the schools in Bangalore. However, we can say more on this only after the culprit is caught,” he said. We will know more details once the investigation is over, he added.

There was no panic among the commuters around Raj Bhavan as not many were aware of the bomb threat. Security has been tightened at the Raj Bhavan premises following the incident.
