City Elections

Residents complain of water supply, traffic, clogged drains and bad roads.

Residents of C V Raman Nagar constituency continue to face civic issues related to water, road, drainage and traffic among others.

The drainage in front of Bagmane Tech Park was clogged on Apr. 27 and caused flooding on the road. After an hour of clogged drainage, Velmurugal, a Junior Engineer and two cleaning staff were assigned by the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) to resolve the issue.

Velmurugal, said, “Usually this drainage does not get clogged. This might have been caused by garbage getting accumulated in the opening of the drainage pipe.”

  • Flooding caused due to clogged drain in front of Bagmane Tech Park, CV Raman Nagar.
  • Ongoing building construction interrupting the lives of residents of Kaggadasapura Main Road.
  • The ongoing restoration of Kaggadasapura lake interrupts the lives of people living in 6th Cross, Kaggadasapura Main Road.

However this is a very common problem in this area. Aishwarya, an employee of a company in Bagmane Tech Park said, “The office of one of the big four companies was moved from Bagmane Tech Park to Marthahalli due to some amount of flooding during monsoons.”

Narrow roads leading to traffic is also a cause of concern for residents. Kartika Pillai, a resident of Byrasandra Main Road, Cauvery Colony said, “Due to narrow roads in our area there is a lot of traffic.”

Reports show illegally parked vehicles, encroached footpaths and narrow roads have existed for years and make traffic even worse in the area.

A resident, who does not wish to be named, of Chowdhari Lake View apartments near Kaggadasapura Main Road said, “The construction has caused some amount of disturbance in our lives. However, our main concern is the road which is not constructed properly.”

Other problems that trouble the CV Raman Nagar residents are shortage of water Deepak Malvia, a resident of 29th Cross, Kaggadasapura Main Road said, “We do not get sufficient water here. The Cauvery river water was supposed to be supplied in our area; however, we have to get our water pumped in from water tankers.”

Janardhan, manager of Chowdhari Lake View apartments said that although the restoration of the lake in front of our building causes some issues to the residents, they are not severe enough.

However, Jithu, Security Officer at Bagmane Tech Park said that water logging if any is quickly looked after.
