Karnataka will see participation from 40 new regional parties in this election.

Around 40 new regional parties are likely to contest in the upcoming legislative assembly elections of Karnataka in 2023.

Gali Janardhana Reddy, a former Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) from Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has launched a new party, Karnataka Rajya Pragati Paksha (KRPP) which will also contest in the upcoming elections.

Harish, spokesperson for KRPP said, “We are likely to contest from at least five seats and we are sure to win from these constituencies as our candidates are popular for their work. This is a baby step for us but we are sure to win even though it’s our first election.”

Another party, Sarva Janata Party is also contesting the election for the first time and its president, Ghanshyam Jaiswal said, “We are working in every state to ensure our growing popularity and good work, and we are likely to have ten candidates this time. However, it is tough to compete with dominant parties like BJP, Congress and Janata Dal (Secular) for now.”

But he is sure of winning at least two to three seats in the elections. “Even if we win one seat, it would make a big difference as it would help us to ensure our future in Karnataka,” he added.

In addition to this, Karnataka Rashtra Samiti (KRS) led by Ravi Krishna Reddy is also contesting for the first time.  “We have gained popularity through our social media campaigning and I’m sure of winning around  three to four seats,” said Reddy, the president of the party. KRS has evolved and gained popularity since we announced our participation in the Bengaluru civic body elections.  “here are people who want to kick start their political careers by volunteering for our party,” added Reddy.

Pooja Sharma, Head of the Department of political science at KL International School said that, ‘It is very brave of these regional parties to come forward for the elections, even though they’re dominated by parties like BJP, JD(S) and Congress, with good campaigning and media presence they can start their political drive in Karnataka.”
