Bengaluru, Nov. 19, 2018

Dalit Sangharsh Samithi protested today to oppose the SC directive issued to KPSC.  A recent order from the apex court has reserved the number of meritorious students to be hired under General Category.

Mavalli Shankar, State Secretary of the DSS was leading the agitation. He was accompanied by 50 other protesters. Mr. Shankar mentioned in his speech that the order from the apex court is a direct violation of the rights granted by the Constitution of India, and violates the fundamental right of the individual.

Prof M.V Narasimha said that Social Welfare Minister Priyanka Kharge has written a letter to CM Kumaraswamy to look into the issue at the earliest. He added that General Merit is applicable to all and should not be reserved to one community

Prof Narasimha added that government direction issued on November 2nd to KPSC to follow the guidelines given by HC in the recruitment of the 2015 batch of gazetted officers was disturbing, and was limiting the growth of backward communities.
