Old gives away to new as KRDCL shifts its base from Vasanth Nagar to Rajajinagar.

Bangalore, March 15 , 2018: Vasanth Nagar ceases to remain (Karnataka Road Development Corporation) KRDCL’s administrative office as the nodal body shifts to Rajaji Nagar. This comes  after Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramiah inagurated the new seven-storied building named “Sampark Soudha”, which is right across the street from Orion Mall.

The old rented office was in use since 1999 and was running out of space due to the increasing workload.

Nanjundappa, CEE at  KRDCL said that the old office didn’t have enough space, especially for the land acquisition department and that they were planning a shift for a long time.

The building that was inaugurated today, boasts of having  modern amenities which include  an auditorium, a dedicated parking lot, an STP and even rain-water harvesting facilities.

However, the KRDCL officials are planning to rent out the first two floors of the building,  “We will rent the first two floors to private bodies or offices. It does not matter who rents it, we are more concerned with the revenue aspect,” added Nanjundappa. In addition to that, they also plan to rent the auditorium for official functions.

Krishna Reddy, Managing Director of KRDCL said the main objective of KRDCL is to self sustain. It generates revenue by leveraging private participation and by rendering their services to various parties, this is how they were able to pay a rent of Rs 14.75 lakhs as rent for the newly leased land.

The tenders for the construction of the building were floated in three phases in a span of three years from 2015 to 2018. Nanjundappa said that the estimated cost of the building was Rs 40 crore, all of which was borne by KRDCL alone.

This new office is to start its functions by the end of March 2018.
