Potholes in Rajarajeshwari Nagar yet to be repaired
The BBMP officials say that rain was the major factor behind the pending work
Bangalore, October 17, 2017: The residents of Rajarajeshwari Nagar (RR Nagar) are unhappy with the Bruhat Bengaluru Managara Pallike(BBMP) as the potholes in the area are still not cleared which has caused trouble for them.
BBMP (RR Nagar) statistics state there are 2036 potholes in RR Nagar, which need repairing. These include both sub-arterial or secondary and arterial or primary roads as well.
“Twenty eight arterial roads are in total, out of which we repaired almost all”, says the Executive Engineer, Nandeesh J.R of the RR Nagar project.
But Srinath Babu, a member of the Raja Rajeshwari Nagar Welfare Association expressed his displeasure by saying, “RR Nagar is the worst constituency as no work here happens on time”. The RR nagar project consists of two divisions - the Rajarajeshwari division and Kengeri.
The BBMP head office and the RR Nagar Zonal Office, both are working at faster pace to complete this project by latest October 16.
But Harini, a junior official of the engineering department, BBMP, RR Nagar zonal office, says, “That not a single project has been taken due to continuous rain”. “Road accidents are increasing day by day, due to these potholes. It’s really high time that our government should do something about it”, says Harini.
She also adds “The road from Gopalan Arcade to Bangalore University road, numerous potholes can be found, which are not fixed.”
A.H. Suresh, Additional Executive Engineer (BBMP), said that rains are very unpredictable. “Bangalore Rain is very predictable, if it continues to rain like this, it’s very difficult to work on potholes”.
